Britney Allen, identified in the meeting as the JFK manager, presented a list of surplus items for sale and asked the council to approve a resolution to dispose of them.
Allen said the department had replaced several items and identified duplicates or nonfunctional equipment taking up space, including paper towel dispensers, an older tractor and drag, and several floor scrubbers. She explained that some replaced items might be reused in other city locations but that other items were no longer practical to repair. “We have a tractor that's been up to a lot of problems … There's no really putting money into it to say, hey. Let's fix this,” Allen said.
A council member moved, the motion was seconded and the council voted in favor; the motion carried. Council discussion included whether replaced chutes or other parts should be saved for future use; Allen said some items might be retained for potential reuse. The resolution passed as presented; staff will proceed with the sale of listed surplus assets under R2025‑14.
