Staff said Wisconsin law requires each school to maintain a board‑approved plan describing the district’s school counseling services. The document presented to the committee lays out four sections: program definition, program management, program delivery and program assessment. “We became aware that we needed to have a board approved, program and delivery model that was put down on paper for what we are doing according to, the letter of the law,” a district staff member said.
The plan documents the district’s existing counseling work and adds an annual program‑assessment step. Staff recommended reporting program data annually to the board so trustees can review outcomes such as office referrals and service volumes by site.
Why it matters: Formal adoption will document the district’s compliance with state expectations and increase transparency about counselor activities and outcomes. Committee members indicated no substantive objections and asked for a brief synopsis when the plan is presented to the board; staff said a short explanation at the board meeting will suffice and that counselors need not attend unless the board requests it.
