The Germantown School District Buildings & Grounds Committee discussed replacing failing dugouts at Dreamfield, the varsity baseball field, and voted to table the item to the Buildings & Grounds meeting on Aug. 19 so staff can review RFP responses and present costs. Staff described reasons for replacement as failing foundations and walls, lack of drainage and failing retaining walls inside the dugouts. Temporary repairs were made for the 2025 baseball season but staff said full replacement is required. The proposed scope includes at-grade construction with proper drainage, a 40-by-10-by-8 dimension per dugout, precast concrete or block barrier wall options, composite benches with storage, bat and helmet racks, and three-quarter front safety barriers. Staff said they issued a request for proposal (RFP) to several contractors; proposals are due Aug. 15 and staff planned to review submittals and make a recommendation to the finance committee and full board on Aug. 19, if the committee approved a recommendation. Committee members questioned approving a recommendation without a known cost; after discussion the original motion to forward a recommendation was withdrawn and the item was tabled to Aug. 19 so Buildings & Grounds can review bids and then forward a packet to finance. No contractor award or dollar amount was approved at the Aug. 5 meeting; final award and contract execution remain subject to normal procurement, finance committee review and full board approval.
