Eisenhower teams, coaches honored by New Berlin board; baseball wins school's first state title

The highlights included six boys’ tennis state qualifiers and multiple Eisenhower track athletes who competed at state, and a baseball team that finished 24-5 and won Eisenhower’s first state title.
Kevin Fitzgerald, Eisenhower athletics and activities director, introduced the players and coaches and said spring has been “our jam the last several years,” pointing to long postseason runs and conference championships. Fitzgerald noted that the three programs honored were led by coaches who teach in the school.
Mark Loomer, Eisenhower boys’ tennis head coach, said he joined the program as an assistant four years ago and this season was notable for the number of players who reached state: “This is the most number of players we’ve ever had at state for boys or I believe girls. But if not, I mean, it’s an accomplishment that really goes to them. I’m just here for the ride.”
On the track and field team, assistant coach Amy Sidlars said the group had broken roughly 25 school records collectively and noted several individual state qualifiers and relay teams that set school records. Sidlars told board members that several athletes planned to continue running in college and that the program’s culture had contributed to broad success.
Joe Daithi, Eisenhower head baseball coach, described the team’s season and staff work that led to the state title, including community support. Daithi provided season statistics: a 24-5 record, 181 runs scored, 67 runs allowed, a team batting average of .308, and a combined ERA of 1.92. He named individual accolades, including sophomore pitcher Cal Schneider’s 63.2 innings with a 0.37 ERA and 92 strikeouts, and Carter Hollenbeck’s first-team all-state recognition as an outfielder.
Students who qualified for state or set school marks spoke briefly about team culture. Ben Shearer said he was proud of “being able to celebrate and go through it, like, with our family that we have on the track and field team.” Kylie Kwiatkowski (spelled Kwiatkowski in school materials) mentioned breaking the 4x800 school record with teammates.
The board offered congratulations and invited the athletes and coaches to leave the meeting after remarks so they could return to other commitments.
The recognitions do not include board action or budgetary commitments; they were ceremonial acknowledgments on the public agenda.
