San Juan County Fair posts record attendance and near-$1 million livestock sale

San Juan County Fair Board President Bob Echols told commissioners that the 2025 county fair set records for attendance and livestock sale receipts. “Our attendance is gonna be in excess of a 100,000 people,” Echols said, and he reported that the livestock sale total at the time the books were closed was “right at about $956,000,” with the sale remaining open for 30 days for add-ons and an expectation the final total will exceed $1 million. Why it matters: fair proceeds help youth exhibitors (4‑H and FFA) pay expenses and fund next year’s projects; Echols said more than 600 youth participated in livestock and indoor exhibits and praised county staff and volunteers for organizing the event. He called the sale results “mind blowing” given historical figures. Echols thanked county staff and the fair board and noted that the sale and attendance place the county’s fair among the state’s largest in terms of livestock sale proceeds. Commissioners recognized volunteer contributions and presented an award to a longtime volunteer who runs the waterfowl barn.
