The Marathon County Environmental Resources Committee voted Sept. 2 to recommend approval of a rezoning petition filed by Herbert and Shirley Jepson to change two parcels at the corner of Turtle Ridge Road and County Road E in the Town of McMillan from Rural Residential (RR) to Rural Estate (RE).
CPZ staff presented a report on the petition, describing the parcels as Lots 12 and 3 of CSM number 19553 (document number 1882492) located in the northeast corner of Section 17, Township 26 North, Range 3 East. The Town of McMillan met on Aug. 11 and recommended approval, and CPZ staff concluded the request met district standards for size, frontage, access and dimension and that it was consistent with the town comprehensive plan as reflected in the town resolution.
With no public testimony for or against the petition, Supervisor Durbach moved to recommend approval to the county board, citing the staff report, findings of fact and the town’s recommendation; Supervisor Schombauer seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff noted that if the Marathon County Board approves the rezone, CPZ recommended the town update its comprehensive plan to reflect the zoning change where applicable. The committee’s action is a recommendation to the county board; final approval rests with the Marathon County Board of Supervisors.
