The Richmond City Council authorized a painting contract and vinyl logos for the Richmond Police Department hallways at the Aug. 18 meeting.
City staff said the 2025–2026 building and grounds budget included funds for the project and that Police Chief Casella solicited three quotes; the low bid for painting was Coast to Coast Painting LLC for $5,660, and staff reported a $568 quote from Printall for three vinyl logos.
Chief Casella addressed the council and said, “I don't think I have anything to add. I think it's a great addition. It's about, since 1994, since the place opened up. Yeah, no, it looks nice.”
A councilmember moved to authorize the Coast to Coast Painting LLC quote of $5,660 and the Printall quote of $568, with the expense charged to the building and grounds line item for building additions and improvements. The motion was seconded, taken by voice vote and announced as passed.
Council asked when work would begin; staff indicated the work was expected to occur promptly and one councilmember asked, “When's that getting done?” and was told it could begin as soon as the following day.
The council record includes a note that the clerk should correct a typographical error in the motion language (the word "authorizing" to be stricken), and the expense will be charged to the appropriate building and grounds account as stated in the motion.
