Council OKs Richmond Moose Lodge annual Toy Run and promotional banner

The Richmond City Council approved a special-event request from the Richmond Moose Lodge and the Michigan Dresser Motorcycle Club to hold their 38th annual Toy Run on Sunday, Oct. 5, including closure of Grand Trunk Avenue between Main and Howard from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and use of the Moose Lodge for event activities. The council also approved placement of a small promotional banner in the grass area near Grand Trunk and M‑19 beginning Friday, Sept. 19. City staff noted the event has taken place in the city for several years and was “conducted very well” in the past. The motion to approve both the road-closure event and the banner passed by voice vote; the transcript records councilors saying “Aye” and the mayor stating, “Motion does pass.” No public objections were recorded during the meeting.
