Pasadena ISD honors former principal and trustee Jerry Ross Spear; family attends board meeting

The Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees on Aug. 26 held a formal recognition for Jerry Ross Spear, who served as a coach, principal and board member for the district. Family members were present in the boardroom as trustees read biographical remarks and approved the recognition by voice vote.
Trustees recounted Spear’s roles as a football coach, assistant principal and principal of J. Frank Dobie High School, and noted the school’s academic-decathlon state and national championships during his leadership. Speakers praised his mentorship, leadership and long-term ties to the district. Board members also thanked the family for attending and made the recognition official by a board vote with no opposition recorded.
The board did not provide additional action items tied to the recognition; staff and trustees offered condolences and appreciation during the ceremony.
