The Planning & Zoning Commission on Aug. 28 approved a site-plan amendment for 405 West Parkwood Ave. to allow a detached covered patio at the end of an existing retail center.

Aubrey, a city staff member, summarized the request and said building and engineering departments had approved the drainage and building plans. "There was capacity in the existing detention pond," Aubrey said, and added that no trees would be removed. The structure was described as a 25-by-50-foot covered patio placed in a grassy, fenced area at the end of the building adjacent to existing businesses including a coffee shop.

Applicant Eman Lipshara attended and said engineering approvals were in hand and that she had submitted required paperwork. After a brief discussion about tree proximity and confirmation from staff that mature oak trees would not be affected, Commissioner Conrad moved to approve the site-plan amendment; the motion was seconded and commissioners voted in favor. The chair declared, "Motion passes."
