Committee members said photographic and video evidence show rapid re‑accumulation of silt and that preliminary quotes to remove sediment were in the approximately $37,000 range.
Staff and the committee discussed potential village responsibility, noting past village construction and stormwater projects in the area that may have contributed to sedimentation. The committee said Sugarbush indicated willingness to enter a licensing agreement for monitoring and access; if the village approves, the solicitor would prepare the agreement for council consideration.
Committee members recalled a prior cost split with Sugarbush three years earlier when the village assisted with pond dredging; they noted expectations that dredging could again be necessary sooner than anticipated. The committee discussed longer‑term solutions including retention or detention features on upstream parcels. Public comments at the meeting requested that any village contribution to dredging be offered on an equitable basis to other private lakes in the village if the village establishes a fund or policy for pond maintenance assistance.
The public utilities committee will continue work and present formal recommendations to council on licensing terms and any proposed cost contribution.
