Scottsdale bond oversight committee reviews project progress: pools, barns, libraries and fire stations

Key project updates included: the McCormick‑Stillman Railroad Park splash pad (Project 2) is complete and had a grand opening Aug. 1; Granite Reef Senior Center expansion (Project 13) was moved to FY 26–27 pending a feasibility study to evaluate adding an adult day‑care program; the Via Linda Senior Center expansion is in programming and early design; Cactus Pool (Project 22) is proceeding with a feasibility study and construction funding has been moved out of the five‑year CIP until feasibility is completed; Appaloosa Library solar project (Project 60) is “severely underfunded” with about $40,000 currently available and will likely require a scope change and supplemental funding; and Pinnacle Peak Park parking/amenities project (Project 61) is waiting on a state land auction while conceptual design work continues.
Other updates: WestWorld horse barn renovations (Project 45) have completed seven barns; staff expects to construct two more this fiscal year for a total of up to nine, leaving one remaining barn the following year; the Stage 2 Theater renovation (Project 32) is planned to be staged with a future Scottsdale Art expansion and donor funding; the Appaloosa Library and Civic Center solar concepts are under evaluation and may be combined with the 70 Fifth Street parking lot project; and Fire Station 612 near Hayden Road and Loop 101 is near substantial completion with a scheduled opening this fall.
