PASCO, Wash. — The City Council unanimously approved annexation of property known as the Wright and Big Sky (Glacier Park) annexation and assigned it R‑1 lower-density residential zoning at its Aug. 4 meeting.

City planner Miss Miller told council staff had accepted a petition for annexation that met city code requirements, that the hearing examiner reviewed the petition and recommended approval, and that Franklin County had certified the method of annexation. Staff recommended the property be annexed into City Council District 4. The council adopted Ordinance No. 4780 to annex the property and then adopted Ordinance No. 4781 to apply R‑1 zoning consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan designation of low-density residential (3–6 units per acre).

Miller described the site as roughly a half-mile down Road 68 from Burns Road on the city’s northwestern edge; the annexation covers a small “donut hole” within city limits and includes a narrow panhandle to be dedicated as right-of-way along Convention Drive.

No members of the public spoke during the required public hearing. Councilmember Milley moved adoption; council voted unanimously to approve both ordinances.

Ending: With the zoning assigned, staff said subsequent steps will include the standard process for any development proposals on the annexed parcels, including required permits and any future developer agreements.
