The St. John Town Council accepted the deed to the new community center and authorized the town council president and the Clerk Treasurer to execute and record it, the council voted at its Aug. 27 meeting.
Steve Kill, speaking on behalf of the property owner and builder, formally presented the deed to the council and asked the council to entertain a motion to authorize the council president and Clerk Treasurer to execute and record the deed for the town. "On behalf of the property owner and builder, I would like to formally present the town council with the deed to the property and building," Kill said.
A council member moved to accept the deed and authorize signatures, and the motion was seconded. The council confirmed the motion and members voted in favor. Clerk Treasurer Beth Hernandez said she would record and attest the document.
Council members and staff praised the new facility during the meeting. The president called the community center a success and thanked citizens and staff for their work. No additional conditions or changes to the deed were recorded in the public meeting minutes.
The deed acceptance completes the formal transfer step the property owner described; the council’s authorization allows the president and Clerk Treasurer to sign and to file the deed with the county recorder’s office as the town’s property record.
