The Park City Council approved a change-order authorization to relocate and replace water mains that interfere with construction of new box culverts as part of the Phase 2 stormwater drainage project.
Staff said crews identified existing water lines that must be lowered to accommodate the new culverts at East Parkview near Judson, Hartford near Ashford, and Mobile Drive. Proposed work includes replacing and lowering two 4-inch water lines at Parkview and Hartford at a cost staff estimated at $35,200 and upsizing and replacing a 4-inch line with an 8-inch line along Mobile Drive from Denver to Connolly Court, creating a loop connection to an existing 8-inch main.
The total cost for the water-line replacements was presented as $145,590; staff requested council approve a change-order not to exceed $180,790 to be paid from the utility fund. Staff said the Mobile Drive upsize is consistent with the city's annual program to replace aging water lines and provides improved distribution reliability.
Councilmember Terry Osborne moved to approve the change order; Councilmember Jim Schrader seconded. The motion passed 7–0.
Staff said the work is budgeted and will be coordinated with the contractor Downlinger Construction to sequence the culvert installation and water-line relocations to minimize service interruptions.
