City Manager Nate updated the council on sidewalk and street projects, saying some sidewalk segments remain in a state environmental review process and two street projects are at 40% design. He said the Seventh Street and Locust Street designs are progressing and that the selected engineering firm plans to meet with council for a design review in September.
Nate explained the sidewalk projects are “largely out of our control” because the environmental review is performed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). “That’s a state thing that ODOT does,” he said, adding the city contributes a smaller share toward construction costs.
On street work, staff reported truck and paving resources are ready and that field crews will coordinate with residents before and during work. Nate described the city’s typical resident notification approach: door‑to‑door notices for preparatory work, and use of the city’s Facebook page, website and mobile app to push notices that will reach the public. He said specific driveway‑access timing will be communicated closer to the actual asphalt-laying operations.
Councilmember Randy (as recorded) had asked for updates on the sidewalk projects and future street project schedules during the council remarks portion, prompting the manager’s report. Staff committed to provide more detailed timeline updates to council when the engineering firm schedules the September review.
