Mahoning County Job and Family Services (JFS) received a certificate Aug. 7 recognizing a Medicaid eligibility accuracy rate of 90% or higher for the April 2025 quality control review, a JFS staff member told commissioners.
A county staff member said a state team visited last Thursday and presented the certificate to Mahoning County JFS, praising the staff's work on eligibility accuracy. "They presented Mahoning County with the Medicaid eligibility accuracy rate," the presenter said, adding she would circulate the certificate to commissioners' staff. The presenter described the recognition as demonstrating "remarkable dedication" by county JFS employees.
Commissioners and other attendees also praised a recent Save Our Seniors Day event, which staff said offered free eye exams, glaucoma screenings and tables of service providers. The board heard that several county offices and partner agencies participated and that staff and volunteers distributed informational "baggies" to seniors at the event.
The meeting record shows the presentation of the certificate and oral commendations for staff; no formal resolution or fiscal action was recorded in connection with the recognition during the Aug. 7 meeting.
