Ward Mollmeister, identified at the meeting as the county warden, told commissioners that four bids were opened for the Lawrence County jail elevator modernization and that he and staff recommend awarding the project to TKE Elevator (TKE). "There was 4 bids that came in ... we would like to recommend, TKE elevator is awarded the bid," Mollmeister said. The commissioners discussed the recommendation and agreed to prepare a formal resolution for a vote at the next regular meeting.
Commissioners said staff and the prison board reviewed the bids and that TKE appeared to be the lowest qualified bidder. Commissioners requested Mollmeister attend next Tuesday’s meeting in case technical or commercial questions arise during the formal vote. The warden and commissioners emphasized completing the work "in the safest cost efficient way possible."
No formal motion or vote was taken Sept. 2; the board directed staff to prepare the resolution for next week's meeting and to include the warden for any follow-up questions.
