The Park Board voted Aug. 21 to allow a food truck at the annual recovery fair on Saturday, Sept. 6, and to approve use of the Greenway Trail on Sunday, Oct. 5 for the harvest walk.
Parks staff described the recovery fair as held each year on the grassy area adjacent to the aquatic center and said the food truck would be set up in the maintenance parking lot, not the main lot. "They're gonna do that again this year and that is the date, Saturday, September 6. What they wanted to do this year is have a food truck that could be there. I told them that, I would bring that to you and you could, vote yes or no on that," the parks staff member said. Board member 1 moved to approve the request; Board member 2 seconded, and the board voted "Aye."
Staff identified the harvest walk as an annual fundraiser organized by the interlocal food pantry and asked for permission to run part of the route on the Greenway Trail on Oct. 5. "This is another, annual event that is put on I think this is put on by the interlocal food pantry. It's a walk that they do to raise money. They do it every October," the parks staff member said. Board members approved the request by voice vote.
Both approvals were routine permits; staff said they would coordinate logistics and routing with event organizers.
