The Lebanon Board of Works authorized city staff Sept. 8 to issue bidding documents for an off‑site drainage project needed to construct a roundabout at County Road 100 South and County Road 400 East.
City Engineer Kevin Kralik said the storm sewer system is required because the area lacks existing drainage infrastructure; the design routes storm sewer from the south end of the roundabout site, crosses 400 East (a closure and detour will be provided in the plans), and outlets into Nice Ditch. The off‑site drainage is needed because the Waterford development — which was expected to have provided drainage infrastructure — had not completed the work anticipated when planning for the roundabout began.
Kralik described the plan as a high‑level map to show where storm sewer would be installed (construction station references shown in the project documents). The board voted to authorize issuance of the bidding documents; the presentation noted first‑round right‑of‑way compensation statements and approvals for related projects elsewhere, but the bidding authorization was limited to the storm sewer work described.
The authorization clears the project to go out to bid; the city will return with award recommendations and construction agreements in later meetings as bids are received and evaluated.
