The Monroe County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 14 awarded the remaining scope of the Lampkins Ridge Road paving project to Milestone LLC. County staff told the board the award covers about 1.3 miles and was the lowest responsive bidder; the contractor was already on site under a community-crossing contract.

County public-works staff said the scheduling advantage of adding the segment to the active contract gave the county better pricing and that Milestone expects to complete the added section within about a month, weather permitting.

Commissioners approved the award on a recorded vote noted in the minutes as “2–0.”
