At its September meeting the Franklin Fire Merit Commission voted to cancel its scheduled October meeting, which falls on Columbus/Indigenous Peoples Day, and set its next regular meeting for Nov. 10. Commissioners discussed that counselor Mike Kyle would be unavailable for the October date and that there was no substantive business anticipated in October because recruitment steps are largely complete. A motion to cancel the Oct. 13 meeting was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners said a special meeting could be called if urgent business arises before the November session.
