The Okaloosa County School Board voted unanimously to name the Ruckle Middle School cafetorium the Dr. Jenny Morgan Cafetorium, honoring a long-serving local educator.
Board member Mr. Heinle introduced the naming recommendation, calling Dr. Jenny Morgan the only person considered for the honor and saying she “embodies everything that you would want in a principal.” Superintendent Chambers and current Ruckle principal Joe Geneso also spoke in support, describing Morgan as an instructional leader whose motto was “what is best for students.”
Nut graf: The naming recognizes Morgan’s decades-long career in the district — including teaching and leadership roles dating to 1968 — and is intended to preserve her legacy at Ruckle Middle School. Principal Geneso thanked taxpayers for the new facilities and described Morgan as a disciplined leader who demanded respect and prioritized student needs.
Formal action: Motion to approve the naming was moved by Mr. Heinle, seconded by Mr. Bridal, and passed 5–0. Dr. Morgan addressed the board and provided brief remarks recalling her time in the district.
Ending: Board members participated in a short ceremony and posed for photographs with Dr. Morgan and school leaders.
