Board adopts secondary science instructional materials and new job descriptions for athletic trainer, public information officer and federal programs director

The Okaloosa County School Board on a series of public-hearing votes adopted instructional materials for secondary science and career and technical education, including reproductive health and disease education for the 2025–26 school year, and approved new job descriptions for an athletic trainer, a specialist public information officer and a program director for federal programs. Each item was presented by district staff and recommended by the superintendent and was approved 4–0 after the board recorded that there were no public speakers on those items.

Miss Tammy Ellis presented the instructional materials item for secondary science and CTE reproductive health instruction; the board moved and voted to adopt the materials during the public hearing. Doctor Hale presented the new job descriptions for athletic trainer, specialist public information officer and program director, federal programs; each was presented as an action item in a public hearing, with no members of the public speaking on those items. The board approved each description on voice votes.

Action details: public-hearing votes recorded on items 15.1 (instructional materials), 15.2 (athletic trainer job description), 15.3 (specialist public information officer job description) and 15.4 (program director, federal programs job description) were all moved, seconded and approved 4–0.

What this means: With the board’s approval, the district will implement the adopted instructional materials for the 2025–26 school year and finalize job-description documents for human resources and hiring processes. No public comments were recorded on these items.
