A district facilities representative presented five easement requests from the City of Lake Dallas related to drainage improvements, a temporary construction easement and sidewalk/access work on Aug. 25; the board approved all requests unanimously.
The easements affect multiple district properties: 104 Swisher Road (south, west and northeast corners), 425 East Hundley Drive (in front of the practice field and bus barn) and 325 East Hundley Drive (in front of the middle school). The city plans culverts and underground drainage work, sidewalk widening and access improvements; one parcel was described as a temporary easement to be used during construction and then returned to the district.
Board members asked about timing and operational impacts for the Hundley Drive work, which the presenter said could begin as early as January–February and might span two to three years for the larger city project. The presenter said the district and city are coordinating on vehicle access and that the district plans to repair and repaint parking spaces in the maintenance area before construction begins.
Motions to approve the individual easements were made and seconded by various trustees and each passed unanimously.
The approvals allow the city to move forward with planned infrastructure work that district staff said will improve drainage and pedestrian access near campuses.
