Board approves $18,596 change order for Macaw Park Phase 2; total contract now $50,876

The Lafayette Board of Works on Sept. 9 approved change order No. 1 for Macaw Park Phase 2 that adds work and raises the contract by $18,596 to a new total of $50,876, city staff said. City staff said the project originally covered conversion work that included 12 pickleball courts created from former basketball courts. During construction staff said they were able to add space for 14 additional new courts instead of the originally planned 12, and crews determined the older courts needed full demolition and reconstruction rather than resurfacing. "The original contract amount was $32,280. The fee for the additional changes outlined here in change order number 1 is $18,596.00," a city staff member reported, and moved for approval. The board approved the change order on a voice vote. The project was described as near completion; staff said crews were finishing the punch list.
