City proclaims National Hispanic Heritage Month; Hispanic Unity of Florida highlighted

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — On Sept. 3 the Hollywood City Commission proclaimed Sept. 15–Oct. 15, 2025 as National Hispanic Heritage Month and recognized local organizations’ work to support Hispanic residents.
Commissioner Hernandez read the proclamation and Michelle Fernandez, with Hispanic Unity of Florida, accepted it on behalf of the group. Vice Mayor Quintana also invited residents to the Hispanic Unity Entrepreneurial Summit on Sept. 26.

- The proclamation notes that nearly 40 percent of Hollywood’s population is Hispanic and that Hispanic Unity of Florida has been headquartered in Hollywood for nearly four decades; Michelle Fernandez said the agency has “served over half a million people” during its history and praised city partnerships for supporting youth programs such as Unity for Teens.
