Kristen Eich found the owner of 667 Killian Circle in violation for erecting a pool deck without a building permit and ordered the owner to obtain required permits or face fines. Co compliance officer Joseph Martinez testified that the deck was first reported on Jan. 30, 2025, and that permitting records showed no issued permit. Martinez said the contractor, Lifetime Fence, submitted drawings but the city sent plan-review comments that were not addressed.
Why it matters: Unpermitted structural work can raise safety concerns and affects inspection and permitting records.
Details: Resident Elizabeth Reyes and Linda Crookenberg of Lifetime Fence said an engineer was hired, that drawings had been submitted, and that miscommunication delayed the response from the engineer. Crookenberg told the magistrate on Aug. 27 she had just reached the engineer and expected immediate action. The magistrate ordered correction by 4 p.m. on Sept. 26, 2025, and reduced the proposed fine to $25 per day because the parties were actively working on a permit. The magistrate noted removal of the structure remained an available corrective action if permitting failed.
Next steps: The property owner must contact the code compliance inspector to verify compliance and secure required approvals.
