Sutherlin council elects to receive state revenue-sharing and certifies municipal services

The City Council of Sutherlin on May 12 held the required public hearings and adopted Resolution 2025.07 electing to receive state-shared revenues for fiscal year 2025–26 and Resolution 2025.08 certifying that the city provides the minimum qualifying municipal services required to receive those funds.
City Finance Director Tammy Trowbridge said the distributions are periodic payments from state taxes on motor vehicle fuels, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages and that for fiscal year 2025–26 “these revenues are projected to be 95,000 approximately.” She explained the two-step process: one resolution elects to receive the funds and a second resolution certifies that the city provides the needed municipal services.
A member of the public asked how the funds would be used; Trowbridge replied that the amounts are included in the general fund and subject to the allocations approved by the budget committee, and she noted some state-shared monies (gas tax) are tied to roads and transportation while other amounts flow to the general fund and support public safety and other services.
The council voted to adopt both resolutions in separate roll-call votes. Council members recorded ayes across the board; Motion carries was announced following each vote.
