Sutherlin council adopts supplemental budget to cover ladder truck payment and grant timing

The Sutherlin City Council on May 12 adopted Resolution 2025.06, a supplemental budget adjustment to the fiscal year 2024–25 budget to account for two unforeseen timing issues: an initial payment on a financed ladder truck and accelerated expenditures tied to a police and fire seismic grant.
City Finance Director Tammy Trowbridge explained the need during the public hearing: the “initial payment on the ladder truck purchase, which was approved by council in April, is actually due June 15. I was planning on it being due in the new fiscal year, but they needed to have it done within 60 days of approving the financing.” She also said that work on the police and fire facility tied to a seismic grant is occurring faster than projected and “they're going to pull down more of that grant in this fiscal year than was originally projected,” requiring the supplemental appropriation.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. A motion to adopt Resolution 2025.06 carried on a roll-call vote with councilors voting aye. The council recorded no no-votes or abstentions on the resolution.
The adjustment is limited to timing and cash-flow within the existing grant and financing approvals; council took no new financing action beyond adopting the supplemental budget.
