The Brentwood Union Free School District Board of Education on Aug. 21 approved a batch of personnel actions covering certificated and noncertificated appointments, including school leadership changes and administrative hires.
Under resolutions read during agenda item D1, the board approved the appointment of Deshauna (Dr.) Doolin as principal of Brentwood High School effective Aug. 21, 2025, with tenure and seniority rights carried from her prior co‑principal role, and approved the appointment of James Gesick as associate principal effective Aug. 21, 2025. Both resolutions reference negotiated compensation through the Brentwood principals and supervisors organization.
The board also appointed Jessica Castoro as assistant coordinator of special services for a four‑year probationary period effective Sept. 2, 2025 (transcript lists effective date and a probationary period through Sept. 1, 2029) at a salary set by the negotiated agreement. During the meeting the board amended the noncertificated personnel list to add David Estevez as school transportation coordinator.
Motions to approve these items were made and seconded by sitting board members (motions recorded by Julia Burgos, Hassan Ahmed, Cindy Saferi, Eileen Harmon, Brandon Garcia and others) and the board approved each resolution; the transcript records the board’s procedural vote as “All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Abstentions? So moved.” The personnel actions were presented as recommendations of the superintendent and recorded as board resolutions in the meeting packet.
The resolutions reference negotiated agreements with the Brentwood principals and supervisors organization for compensation and set probationary/tenure language where applicable. No budgetary totals or salary figures were read into the record during the portions of the meeting covering these appointments.
The board congratulated the appointees and moved to the next agenda items.
