The Brentwood Union Free School District Board of Education on Aug. 21 appointed Brentwood High School senior Jaylene Guevara to serve as the board’s ex officio, non‑voting student member for the 2025–26 school year. The resolution, read into the record as part of agenda item D1C, sets the term as July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and cites District policy 2245 and Education Law section 1702 as the governing authorities.

The appointment came by motion from Board member Brandon Garcia and was seconded by Board member Hassan Ahmed; the board approved the resolution during the meeting. In announcing the appointment, a board member described Guevara as a senior who has served in leadership roles, including senior class president and as director of Brentwood Votes, and noted her work organizing a back‑to‑school drive that provided more than 1,000 book bags to district students.
