The Williamsville Central School District Board of Education held a public hearing Aug. 12 on its district-wide safety plan and reported that no members of the public elected to speak.
Superintendent Dr. Brownhall said the district safety plan — which guides individual building-level emergency response plans — was presented previously and went through a 30-day public comment period. “Our plan outlines procedures for various scenarios, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and [it] facilitate[s] coordination with local resources,” Brownhall said. Assistant Superintendent Skangzuzo led the initial presentation last month, Brownhall told the board.
Brownhall said building-level emergency response plans are confidential and “will not be subject to disclosure because of education law section 2801.” The district reported receiving four public comments during the comment period; most comments were building-specific rather than about the district-wide plan.
Because no one signed up to speak during the hearing, the board closed the public hearing and moved on to other agenda items. The district posted the district-wide plan in BoardDocs for community review, and Brownhall said the district will continue to use the plan to guide local building plans and coordination with local emergency resources.
No formal vote on the district-wide plan was recorded during the public session; board members invited any further questions but received none at the hearing.
