Rules committee sends MGM Yonkers community benefits agreement to Legislation & Codes Committee

The Yonkers City Council Rules Committee on Sept. 9 scheduled a resolution approving a community benefits agreement (CBA) with MGM Yonkers for referral to the Legislation & Codes Committee. The Rules Committee recorded the item for committee review; no final approval or substantive debate on the CBA occurred at the Sept. 9 meeting.

Why it matters: Community benefits agreements accompanying large developments can include local hiring, community investment, or other commitments that affect neighborhoods and municipal oversight. Committee review allows council members to examine the CBA terms and consider any necessary ordinance or approval steps.

At the meeting a staff member listed the community benefits-agreement resolution as Item 20 and the presiding officer confirmed it would be sent to the Legislation & Codes Committee. The committee also reminded the public that the full council will meet Sept. 16 at 4 p.m., and that a separate public hearing on MGM is scheduled for 6 p.m. the same evening.
