At the Sept. 8 Wappingers Central School District Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Bong reported visiting all 15 district schools on the first day of classes and said the district opened the 2025–26 year on a positive note. "I was extremely overjoyed the first day of class this last Thursday as I had an opportunity to visit all 15 of our schools, and the culture and the climate and the zest for learning and the excitement and the enthusiasm that I saw from students, staff, and families is unparalleled," Dr. Bong said.

The superintendent and board members said district staff worked through the summer to prepare buildings for students and staff. Dr. Bong thanked custodians, facilities and operations staff, food-service workers, transportation employees, secretaries, nurses and administrators for completing summer projects and readying schools for the new year. "It truly takes a community to contribute to the success of all of our students," he said.

Board members said they participated in tours of the 15 schools this week to review building readiness and to speak with faculty and staff. Chairman Morgan also reported that the audit committee met earlier that evening to review a proposed charter change that will come before the full board at its next meeting on Sept. 22.

The board did not take policy action on facilities at the Sept. 8 meeting; the remarks consisted of reports and expressions of thanks to staff and community members for the school opening.
