At the public‑comment portion of the meeting, reporter Anna Shek said she was verbally confronted and “grabbed” by the city communications coordinator while trying to verify resident questions with the finance director.
“Tonight, I approached your financial director with a couple of questions…during this, your communications coordinator grabbed me. It will not end here. This was inappropriate, and although he's apologized, I'm very weary of trying to get questions answered and being attacked verbally and now, in my opinion, physically,” Shek told the council. She identified herself as a reporter for Ken Mart News and said she has been reporting for nine years and has rarely issued retractions.
Shek asked the council to note the incident; she did not ask for a specific formal action in the record. The mayor and council did not take immediate action during the public‑comment period; the matter was recorded in the public record.
