The county committee approved moving forward with a feasibility study proposal to evaluate up to three potential sites for a consolidated Department of Public Works campus and barn operations.

Public‑works staff presented a LaBella proposal that would examine up to three sites and produce geotechnical studies, environmental screening including EAF forms, concept site plans, cost estimates, parking assessments and a review of existing facilities. “Feasibility is geotechnical, the environmental, the, you know, EAF forms,” Matt said, describing the scope. Staff said the report is not full engineering design but provides enough analysis for a working group and the full board to compare locations and narrow options.

The full scope for three sites was priced at up to $154,000; staff said the price would be lower if the county narrowed the study to fewer sites. The committee discussed prioritizing one site on county property and evaluating one or two alternatives. Members recommended the county working group confirm candidate sites before the consultant begins fieldwork.

Committee members approved the proposal and instructed staff to coordinate site selection with the working group and prepare funding recommendations for the finance committee. The consultant’s deliverables are intended to reduce design risk by flagging geotechnical or environmental constraints early in the planning process and to provide preliminary cost estimates to inform budget planning.
