Planning commission extends Peg Industries site approval for one year

The Independence Planning Commission on Dec. 2 approved a one-year extension of a site design review approval for Peg Industries LLC, which is proposing the Western Interlock project at Scribe Road and Hoffman Road.
Staff told the commission the project site is 27.24 acres in a heavy industrial zone and that the original approval — granted April 3, 2023 — carried 19 conditions. The applicant requested an additional year to meet those conditions; staff reviewed the extension criteria in the development code and recommended approval.
Commission discussion noted that a one-year extension is the standard length for these requests. There was no substantive public testimony opposing the extension in the record. A motion to approve the extension carried; the commission chair called for those in favor, and the motion passed.
The extension allows the applicant more time to begin work or meet approval conditions without restarting the application process. Staff said applicants may seek additional one-year extensions in the future if they provide information explaining why more time is needed.
Staff will continue to monitor the project against the original conditions of approval and any reporting requirements attached to the site design review.
Less urgent procedural items and routine comments followed the vote.
