At the Aug. 27 meeting Washington County health and human services staff asked the committee to approve a renewed contract with Warren County to provide youth bureau administrative services. The committee approved renewing the contract and the previously agreed 3% escalator, which increases the contract value from $213,000 to $219,390 for the contract term that runs through Sept. 30.
The department said that the contract funds several youth‑oriented programs and administrative work, and that Warren County will fund the full intern position. The contract also includes a 20‑hour‑per‑week youth intern (grade 8) that the county hired last year; the department reported it has spent $7,308 on that position so far and does not expect to reach the $20,000 fully budgeted for the intern position.
Staff listed some direct costs paid from the contract last year: lifeguard certification for county youth ($1,222), incentives ($212), mileage and office supplies (not separately broken out), and $500 in GRAMA supports. Committee members moved the item to the board and approved the renewal.
The department said the arrangement began years earlier when Warren County contracted Washington County to expand youth bureau work; growth in funding streams and program demands led to the current contract structure and the agreed escalator.
Board members did not request additional material beyond the contract details presented.
