On Aug. 25, 2025, the Ulster County Public Works Committee approved a contract of $84,180 with Thaler Riley Wilson Architecture and Preservation, LLP for architectural and engineering services and construction administration for the roof replacement at the Matthias Person House.
Committee members said the firm was selected through a request-for-proposals process that produced about 15 responses, and noted the selected firm previously worked on renovations for the Senate House. The committee described the building as historically significant and said stabilization is required to preserve future use options. Legislator McCullough moved the contract; Legislator Donelson seconded. The committee voted unanimously to approve the state-funded contract.
Materials included background about county efforts to find uses that might return income or services from the property, and members emphasized that without stabilization the county would lose those options.
