The Addison City Council approved a purchase-and-installation agreement with Royer Commercial Interiors for office and meeting-room furniture for the renovated conference center at a cost not to exceed $263,953.88.
Bill Holly, director of General Services, told council the town is ahead of schedule and under budget on construction, leaving furniture purchase as the primary remaining cost. “We’re ahead of schedule and under budget on the construction,” Holly said, and the requested furniture appropriation is about $83,000 below the budgeted amount for the furniture portion of the overall project.
Scope: The purchase covers standing-height workstations, cubicle workstations (many with motorized sit/stand surfaces), seating for conference and waiting areas, and dais-style furnishings for the new work-session room. Staff said the plan reuses existing furniture where feasible and buys new pieces where necessary to create consistent, durable office environments for the relocated departments.
Procurement and value: Staff reviewed multiple vendors and procurement cooperatives before recommending Royer. Holly said staff prioritized longevity and ergonomics; many workstation surfaces were specified as motorized sit/stand to avoid piecemeal aftermarket add-ons. He told council the town tested chairs and selected a product staff expected to last and provide better value over time.
Outcome: Council voted to approve the contract and installation. Staff will proceed with the purchase and stage delivery and installation to align with the remainder of the building schedule.
