County approves trail and open‑space reserve payments, seeks snowmobile grant authority

The Law & Finance Committee on Aug. 13 approved transfers from county reserve funds to cover previously awarded trails and open‑space grants and authorized the county to apply for and administer a New York State snowmobile trail grant in aid program.
The committee authorized a $40,000 transfer from the county trails development reserve to pay Town of Greenfield (2022 and 2023), Town of Milton (2023) and Town of Moreau (2023) grants. It also authorized a $24,825 transfer from the open space reserve to pay a 2023 Town of Greenfield open space grant.
The committee approved necessary agreements to apply for a NYS snowmobile trail grant in aid program and issued a negative declaration under SEQRA (State Environmental Quality Review Act) as part of that authorization. Staff said those grant funds would be passed through to local snowmobile clubs in the county.
Supervisors moved and seconded the trails and open space agenda and carried the items without recorded floor debate.
