The council unanimously approved awarding the City of Wimberley’s 2025 roadway maintenance project (rehabilitation of Oak Drive and Masonic Lodge) to Bennett Paving, whose bid after evaluation totaled $181,903.50.
Rod (Gilpin Engineering) told council six bids were received but the apparent low bid used an outdated bid form and omitted required items, so that submission was deemed incomplete. Bennett Paving — represented at the meeting by Billy Bennett — was the next lowest responsive bidder and the staff recommendation. The contract as bid is short in duration: staff noted a 15‑day completion window for the work.
Staff said they will review remaining budget and current bid prices to determine whether additional roadway projects can be added this year; any additional work would return to council with a recommended contractor and, if necessary, a budget amendment.
Council voted unanimously to approve the award and asked staff to expedite evaluation of possible additional maintenance projects while prices remain favorable.
