WIMBERLEY, Texas '025 ' The Wimberley City Council on Aug. 21 selected the low bidder for the 2025 roadway maintenance project and approved awarding work on Mesa Drive and Hillview Road, directing staff to begin contracting and to return at the next meeting with a budget amendment to fund the work from the general fund balance.

Ryan Bell presented bid results from the July 24 solicitation. The apparent low bidder for the phase was Bennett Paving, which had previously completed the first phase (Oak Drive and Masonic Lodge) and returned competitive prices. The base bid for Mesa Drive was reported as $151,733; a bid alternate adding Hillview Road returned $169,472. Council discussed award options and instructed staff to proceed; staff said a budget amendment will follow at the next meeting to appropriate funds from the current-year general fund balance.

Council members noted the favorable prices and that prior work by the same contractor had gone smoothly. Staff estimated the work would each take a day or two to mill and overlay and that the work could be scheduled promptly. The council moved and seconded approval to award the bidder/expenditure for Mesa Drive and Hillview; the motion passed unanimously.

Staff said remaining funds will leave a healthy balance for next year's program and that the city will start the next maintenance cycle in October. The council instructed staff to bring back the formal budget amendment for approval at a subsequent meeting.
