WIMBERLEY, Texas '025 ' The Wimberley City Council voted unanimously Aug. 21 to approve a temporary-structure permit for the Knights of Columbus to hold its Hunter's Night Out under a large tent at 14711 Ranch Road 12 on Oct. 18, and to renew a one-year temporary permit for Las Maria's food trailer at the same property.

Gary Bartschfeld, representing the Wimberley Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Catholic Church, told the council the event is the council's largest annual fundraiser and that last year it fed and entertained more than 1,000 attendees. Bartschfeld said tents used would be the same ones inspected in prior years and that the event complies with codes and will be inspected by the fire marshal.

Nathan (planning staff) said the food-trailer application for Las Maria's has operated at the site for a year without issue and that staff recommended approval. The council moved and seconded motions to approve both permits; votes were unanimous.

Council members noted public-safety oversight: the city's fire marshal will inspect the large temporary tent for Hunter's Night Out once erected, and staff indicated continued compliance with site plans is required.
