WIMBERLEY, Texas — The Wimberley City Council on Sept. 4 authorized Aqua Texas to provide sewer service within the city’s Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) for property at 15950 Ranch Road 12.
City Administrator Tim Patek said the request is similar to a prior application along Ranch Road 12: “This same property owner I mean, not the same property owner, but this property owner at this location wants to do the same thing. And I notify them that that happens, then they'll be the one getting with Aqua, Texas or whoever they choose to try to get wastewater lines to them.”
Patek told the council the property is not inside the city limits and likely sits in the Woodcreek extraterritorial jurisdiction; he said that obtaining service will require coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation if lines must cross Ranch Road 12. The council voted 4‑0 to authorize staff to send a letter approving Aqua Texas to serve the site.
Councilmembers did not set service terms or accept any infrastructure; the authorization directs staff to notify Aqua Texas that the city will not contest the company’s provision of service inside the city’s CCN for that parcel. Patek said it will be the property owner’s responsibility to work with Aqua Texas or another provider and to obtain any necessary TxDOT permits for crossing state right‑of‑way.
The motion recorded by the clerk passed unanimously; there was no additional public hearing or engineering report presented at the meeting.
