WIMBERLEY, Texas — The Wimberley City Council unanimously approved a $217,913.49 budget amendment on Sept. 4 to fund immediate repairs to Hillview and Mesa.
City Administrator Tim Patek told the council the amendment would increase the capital outlay roads fund (account 100-31-6795) and that the contractor plans to mill both roads and then place hot‑mix paving. “They are going to start that project on next week, the eleventh and twelfth. They’re going to mill both roads first, and then they’re going to come back and they’re going to put the hot mix down,” Patek said.
The amendment was offered as Resolution No. 05‑2025 and described in the meeting as budget amendment number 1. Patek said the contractor will distribute door‑hanger notices to affected residents and expected to begin work at about 7 a.m. on Sept. 11.
Councilmembers present — Mayor Jim Charles, Place 1 Councilmember Rebecca Minnick, Place 2 Councilmember Beau Bowman and Place 3 Councilmember Chris Sheffield — voted 4‑0 to approve the resolution.
Council members and staff called the road conditions among the city’s most pressing infrastructure issues, and councilmembers said the amendment preserves funding in next year’s draft budget to address additional streets. Patek told the council the approved transfer would allow staff to proceed immediately with contracting and construction scheduling.
The project schedule and specific lane‑closure plans were not detailed at the meeting; Patek said staff would monitor contractor operations and public notifications.
The council approved the budget amendment during its regular meeting and will incorporate the change into the official fiscal records before the project proceeds.
