District capital-construction staff told the Campbell County School District Board of Trustees that multiple projects remain on track and that crews completed emergency court repairs to ensure the district could host the state high-school tennis tournament.
Project timelines and status: Staff said interior painting at a new elementary is complete and site work is expected to be finished in October with substantial completion anticipated in December 2025; moving in earlier would depend on outstanding furnishings and playground delivery. "Right now I'm anticipating substantial completion still to be December '25," a staff presenter said.
Aquatic center and pool: The pool deck and piling work is underway and architects will perform inspections of wet areas; staff anticipate early November for pool-system balancing and substantial completion.
High school and stadium work: Design teams are completing conceptual floor plans; staff said stadium design was nearing 10 percent and will be reviewed by the School Facilities Board on Sept. 5. The district expects to bid the stadium in November, break ground in February and have stadium use in about a year. The new high school building is slated for completion in August 2028, with final site work and renovations concluding by August 2029.
Transportation and maintenance projects: A transportation replacement facility reached 35-percent design; staff will identify potential savings and work with the School Facilities Program to secure needed funds. Major maintenance projects — kitchen renovation, roofing, lighting and turf projects — were reported as completed on schedule or nearly so. One HVAC project was delayed by supply-chain issues and expected to finish in October without impacting student operations.
Emergency tennis-court repairs: Staff said the district learned one set of public courts at Bicentennial Park was no longer available and others were unplayable, which threatened the district's ability to host the three-day state tennis meet. The district authorized emergency repairs and a contractor resurfaced four courts over a weekend. "The four North Courts have been resurfaced [and] are playable," the presenter said; staff reported notifying the state association and retaining the tournament in the county.
Why it matters: Trustees said the updates affect school operations, athletics schedules and capital planning; staff noted some projects will require additional funding decisions and coordination with state boards.
