The Orange County Legislature’s Rules Committee voted to accept an extension and supplemental appropriation for remaining funds from a New York State Elections Cybersecurity Remediation Grant, officials said. The grant covers activities that “prevent, prepare, and respond to cybersecurity threats” to elections systems.
The request covered the acceptance of an extension on $158,290.65 in grant funds and a supplemental appropriation of 2025 funds, and identified a remaining balance of $50,753.61. A motion to accept the extension was made by Legislator Stegana and seconded by Legislator Ramos; the committee voted in favor.
County officials told the committee the grant is an entitlement program and that most earlier spending was handled by the county’s information technology staff. They said the remaining balance is planned for audiovisual equipment for training and meetings.
No public speakers objected during the item, and no opposing votes were recorded.
