Joe Duda, assistant superintendent for human resources, presented Washington Hutton's candidacy and said the district's interview process included multiple rounds and input from students, staff and parents. Duda summarized Washington Hutton's credentials: a bachelor's degree in secondary education from the University of Cincinnati, progress toward a master's degree in educational leadership at Oakland University, and certifications in secondary social studies and bilingual education. The board voted 7-0 to approve the appointment. Washington Hutton addressed the board briefly after the vote, thanked interviewers and community members and said she was excited to begin work.
